Christine Vahrenkamp ("Mamaw")

My great-grandma ("Mamaw") died last Sunday night. Her funeral was this past Thursday in Killeen, TX. I loved Mamaw & always smiled for her. I loved crawling up into her bed to visit with her.....& climbing on the side of her wheelchair to say hello to her. (I always checked out the wheels on the wheelchair to make sure everything was ok for her.) Mamaw lived with Grammy & Grandpa this whole past year. Grammy got to have slumber parties with Mamaw almost every night, & Grandpa would read her stories every day. They would drive her over to our house sometimes on Sunday afternoons, & I'd go sit with her in the car & pretend to "drive" her around. She also liked to watch me play in the front yard, & she enjoyed petting the dogs too.

Momma loved her very much & said she lived a long, good life (92 yrs). At her funeral, the pastor talked about the "legacy of love" Mamaw left behind. She was very loving to all of us! She had 4 daughters (Grammy is the 3rd one), 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, & 1 great great grandchild (born just a few months ago). "Papaw" died about 39 years ago right after Grammy & Grandpa got married. Grammy taught Mamaw how to drive when Mamaw was only 53 years old. They lived out on a farm in Killeen. Grammy was born in a house in the mountain there. We will miss Mamaw but know she's in heaven now. Well, that's about all I can remember right now that Momma told me about Mamaw. Love, Davis
